- The Article Directory theme is intended to work with WordPress 2.9 – 3.0.4.
- Statistics on the total number of published articles and the number of registered authors.
- The home page displays a list of the most recent articles. By default it’s a 30 titles. The number can be changed in the template file index.php.
- Each author has a page with info about him and list of his articles. Info about the author is also displaying on a single article page.
- Breadcrumbs on the archives by date, author archives, categories and search results pages.
- The category page displays a list of subcategories (or sibling subcategories) and list of this category articles.
- The possibility of sorting a list of articles on the current category (title, newest, oldest). A similar possibility exists on the author page.
- Single article page contains a list of other articles from the same category.
- Pagination without a plugin.
- List of top authors.
- Widgets support.
- Localization support.

How can I have the outside background (grey stripes) and the border like on this site? How to add a logo in the header before the site title? How can I change the width of the sidebars? How to place a banner in header? Etc.

I have installed your theme "Article Directory", but I don't see the "Register" link on my site.
You need to activate the "Membership (Anyone can register)" option on the "General Settings" page of admin area.

What should I enter in the "ID of author panel page" in the plugin options? What should that look like?

Go to the "Pages" in admin menu. Hover the mouse cursor on the title of the author panel page you have created. Now look at the status bar of your browser. You'll see something like this:
The number after
post=is the ID of author panel page. Is there a way let users edit their posts not in WordPress admin area?
Sorry, but that's not possible.
How do I allow authors to upload images?
Unfortunately, it's impossible in the author panel. But they can upload an image on the free image hosting (for example imageshack.us) and then paste a link on it.

Dimox, I know this question is off topic but I don’t know where else to look for the answer. I’m taking the categories off the main page and replacing them with recent articles, do you or anyone here know if it will hurt my site in terms of seo?

This plugin Rocks! Anyone know of any simple way or plugin that will only allow a certain Country to Publish in and i can put in the Article Submission Notes that publishing is only allowed for that Country.
In my case people should still be able to read, comment and access everything else in the site!

Im working on a very large article directory with over 4 million articles on the database. I have tried your theme before and the site overloaded the virtual server its living on. After loosing all the data and after several panics and handfuls of hair, I finally found that it was not your theme or plugin which was at fault. It was auto publishing bots for eastern Europe.
Im back up and running with XML-RPC switched off. I noticed that using this api for my article posting and for others to post created a large number of httpd processes. The server just got overloaded and required an apache reboot every 30 minutes.
I love the theme alterations which are evolving, especially the adsense injections which are perfect for the sites i am building.
Best of luck with future additions, all your advice on large site caching etc… most appreciated.

I went for using this using this as a blog. This thing has the potential to be used as a forum all you need to do is present it.
All it will need is a couple of templates which i will end up doing sometime. I’ve set it up as a run of the mill blog (really the base code is still the same article directory) and called it “Blog Village” so I’m going to direct my existing users into making there own blog posts.
Even though they don’t know it it will probably end up structured as a forum :).
Enjoying the plugin so far and I am still laying out my pages, but have a question that maybe you can answer…somewhere in the coding I seem to have an issue that makes the page “jump” when I navigate through the site. Have a look:

Looking at some of the site examples I see here on the comments page, I notice that at least one other site does it as well.
It is a rather annoying little thing and is not in my opinion a pleasant experience. Any feedback or suggestions would be most appreciated and I will happily give any more details that I can.

Hello, I have a quick question about your theme. I have uploaded it to mine and have no issues of purchasing it, but like all software products that are purchased, I expect customer support.
I see your registration is momentarily suspended. What I would like to know is a couple of things.
1. What is your upgrade policy as your theme grows and your increase in major or minor versions?
2. I see there are some site redirect a logout of a user back to the site home page. How can I get my visitors to logout of this theme and then return to the home page?

I have tried to install a couple of plugins on my article directory that should generate a lightbox style pop up but both have failed to work with the theme – I would really like to use the Popup Domination plugin but although it installs and activates fine, it refuses to show the popup on the site.
Any ideas or suggestions as to why such lightbox style plugins won’t function with the theme would be much appreciated, thanks.
