Hotels Just Around the Corner from JFK
If you’re planning a trip to New York it makes sense to stay close to the airport, even if it’s only for the days surrounding your arrival and departure. Travelling to the airport can be stressful and it’s never fun to miss a flight; therefore, it can be good to take some of the trouble out of travelling and spend the last few hours of your holiday relaxing instead of dashing across one of the world’s largest cities.
John F Kennedy (JFK) airport is one of three major airports in New York and there are an abundance of hotels in close proximity, so have a look around to see which area suits you best whilst on your trip. This way you can be sure you will get the amenities you’re after and won’t be missing out on anything.
Indeed, if you’re visiting New York for a business trip you may decide to stay in a hotel close to JFK for the duration of your visit, but don’t assume that being close to the airport means you’re not close to all the action. JFK airport is located in south-eastern Queens just fifteen miles from Midtown and a short journey will have you at the heart of the big apple. Major public transport renovations have been in progress for several years, including the AirTrain link with the subway, so you can easily reach the city centre by whatever means.
Once in the city centre it can be hard to know where to even begin. The city is logically divided in a sensible grid layout from Harlem in the North right down to the financial district and Wall Street in the south. The south side of the city is also where the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Bridge connect Manhattan to Brooklyn.
New York City is undeniably a metropolis that never sleeps, where you can do and find literally anything you want. One thing not to miss is Central Park, the ‘lungs’ of the city. At 840 acres, the park runs from 59th street all the way to 110th street and is flanked by Fifth Avenue and Central Park West. In fact, one of the best ways to see the park is by renting a bike and cycling around. Don’t be too disheartened if you get lost as even the most hardened of New Yorkers struggle to find their way around this expanse of urban greenery.
Whether you’re looking for hotels near JFK or near the city centre, you should not find it too difficult; similar to the city of New York itself, the options are simply endless and there is something to suit almost every taste imaginable. Either way, attempting to make some time to explore New York, regardless of the area is always going to be a good thing.
