Are You Fully Equipped to Play Golf?
Many people find that eighteen holes of golf is the perfect antidote to a stressful and packed work day, or just a great excuse to get out in the refreshing open air for a few hours, enjoying the company of a couple of friends or colleagues. And once the golf is concluded, there is also the opportunity to further unwind at the nineteenth hole in the clubhouse.
Indeed, playing golf can be very therapeutic as well as entertaining, depending upon your playing partners and that is certainly why the game is as popular as ever. It can be challenging or leisurely, gleeful or serious but always enjoyable.
For those who haven’t played before, modern golf is a sport played by both genders of all ages and is a million miles removed from any outdated images of stuffy ‘old boy’s’ clubs. Indeed, the social and business networking advantages of the sport cannot be underestimated and apply equally regardless of social status or background.
Of course, if you do wish to take up this popular sport it helps to have a few lessons with the club professional who will soon have you confidently banging the ball off the tee. You then need to acquire the right clothes. Happily, golf gear is now extremely fashionable and affordable. Stylish golf tops and trousers can be worn in public without any of the embarrassment suffered by our forefathers prancing around in their plus-fours and tartan tops. Being in possession of suitable golfing equipment is also a prerequisite for anyone wishing to take up the sport. However, working hard on the basics of the golf swing is more likely to improve a novice golfer’s game than buying top-of-the range equipment. Best value golf clubs don’t have to be well-known brands and certainly needn’t cost a fortune to do the job. Of course, unless you are competing at professional level, the chances of your possession of the latest brand-spanking new clubs improving your game are very slim!
Similarly buying good quality golf balls needn’t cost the earth. Although ‘lake balls’ can be erratic as you’re never quite sure how long they’ve been sat in their watery depository before being recovered, there are plenty of brand-new balls that will do the job without breaking the bank.
A golf bag in which to carry your clubs is essential, but will probably be supplied with most brand new half-sets or full-sets of clubs. The other absolute essential and one that is overlooked is a copy of the rules. There aren’t too many to master but there is also a golf etiquette that must be observed at all times and a good copy of the rules will also include an indication of how to behave.
Once you have your equipment, a copy of the rules tucked away in your bag, and mastered the golf swing basics; you’ll be all set to step out onto the golf course and an enjoyable eighteen holes!

I agree that there is the possibility of lake balls being a little off. However research done by Golf Digest has shown this is not by as much as many people would think.
Most of the recovered ball companies drain their contracted courses once a month, and a month is not really long enough to lose much distance, 5-7 yards off a 250 yard driver was about the average.
For a golfer who has little control over ball flight e.g controlled draw/ fade, backspin on apporoach then these recovered balls are an excellent option.
