Experience the Spice of Life in London

Ranking as one of the top tourist destinations in the world, the city of London is an ideal destination for visitors to head to. Packed full of culture, entertainment and sites of interest, it manages to combine modern appeal with historical significance, making it a capital worthy of its worldwide attraction.

In addition to its highly regarded status within the fashion scene and the renowned collection of celebrities housed there, London is also brimming with activities to do and events to attend. The result is an exciting metropolis offering the tourist a range of unparalleled shopping, sightseeing and leisure opportunities.

Kicking off the New Year in style, England’s capital sees the Russian Winter Festival take over Trafalgar Square in January, in order to celebrate Russian culture. Some 75,000 people attend this free event, to experience the range of folk acts, theatrical performances and unique stalls on offer. There is also the chance to view the best in Russian cinema, with a range of films shown across two days.

The historical Boat Race, held in March, is another event not to be missed. Up to a quarter of a million people line the banks of the River Thames in order to witness the annual race, which has been going since 1856. Pitting the Oxford University Boat Club against Cambridge’s, it is a highly competitive rowing event with each university battling it out to receive poll position.

In anticipation of the start of the summer, the Chelsea Flower Show opens its gates to the public in May. Regarded as one of the most famous events of its kind in the world, it sees over 150,000 people flocking there every year to indulge in all things horticultural. It is open for five days and is great for helping you to get inspiration about gardening, or finding out about new plants.

The African-Caribbean Street Fair is also definitely worth a visit. Held in August and attracting over half a million people, it is the perfect way to wile away those hot summer’s afternoons. Cited as one of the largest street festivals in Europe, it features an eclectic array of reggae and soul music, as well as offering up some exquisite Caribbean food.

Having just entered its 52nd year, the London Film Festival is another great event to attend. Showcasing a selection of films from across the globe, there is something to entertain everyone at this internationally-recognised, prestigious festival. In addition to the actual film screenings, there is also a selection of talks and master classes to visit.

What’s more, England’s capital is also famous for its high quality of hospitality, and this is available all year round. As such, there is a plethora of eateries, accessible hotels in London, and not to mention many bars and clubs to experience.

So, whether you are interested in the more relaxed side of London or the vibrant nightlife that it offers, this popular city is sure to provide a rich and cultural experience for any visitor.
