Of course, your car is probably quite precious to you, and more than often you will do everything to ensure it stays in mint condition. Unfortunately there are a few hidden dangers that your car faces every day that can negatively affect its condition; and the weather is one of them.

It’s something you don’t think twice about each day but most people don’t consider the effects it has on possessions such as your vehicle; until disaster strikes. Luckily there are a few ways you can limit the damage.

It is important to understand that the after effects of a heavy rain shower can cause damage to your car. Therefore, be aware of any flash flooding which can occur after a heavy rain storm. And if you are driving in a heavy storm, make sure you always have your lights on at full beam to ensure that other drivers can easily see you. Also, try to avoid large puddles on the roads as they could be a lot deeper than they look; a large splash of water into the engine can cause severe damage.

Hail can also be severely damaging to your car; large dents, broken windows and cracked paint are just some of the side effects of a hail storm on a vehicle. But to help prevent such damage, it can be advisable to pay close attention to the weather forecast. Therefore, if the weather forecast states whilst you are driving that a hail storm is on the horizon, perhaps find somewhere suitable to park your car undercover until the adverse weather eases off.

Furthermore, an easy way to protect your vehicle when it is at home is to park it in a garage or carport every evening, and if possible during the day whilst you are at work. By making sure it is secure and undercover, you won’t need to worry about any possible adverse weather that may occur during the evening, causing damage to your vehicle. And if you don’t have a garage, you can purchase a car cover, which are easy to erect and also don’t take up too much room.

Of course, if your car does receive damage in any way by the weather, you will want to have peace of mind that the repairs are not going to cost you the earth. Indeed, it is possible for car insurance policies to cover such damage occurred from the weather; therefore, it is important that when choosing a UK car insurance quote that it includes such protection.
