The Best Landmarks to See in Hong Kong

A lot of people book their annual holiday somewhere hot that’s close to a beach. That certainly makes for a great holiday, but if you visit a similar location every year you are missing out on a wealth of other venues that are nowhere near a beach.

A prime example is Hong Kong. Bustling with life and bombarding all your senses with a myriad of tastes, smells, sights and sounds, Hong Kong is guaranteed to remain in your memory long after you come back home with a collection of photos to show your family and friends.

This is a city that has some impressive landmarks that are well worth seeing, and wherever you intend to stay during your trip you can be assured that you won’t be too far away from seeing some of the best landmarks Hong Kong has to offer. A good example is the downtown financial district, which is the perfect marriage between both old and new buildings. You will see both sitting side by side quite comfortably as you wander round the area and soak up the atmosphere.

If the heart of the city gets too much and you want to retreat to calmer, more peaceful waters, then head for Victoria Harbour, which provides breathtaking views no matter what time of the day or night you visit. The best way to see it is from the water, by taking a cruise which allows you to sit back and relax while you see the best of the city from a unique viewpoint. Make sure you take your camera to capture as many views of the city as you can!

If that leaves you wanting to get up and about again, why not get stuck into some shopping? One of the most well known landmarks in Hong Kong is the Western Market, which resides in a building that is over a hundred years old. This is in stark contrast to the age of some of the more modern buildings in the city, and as such it is well worth a visit.

You may also pick up some unique bargains here, as every stall is different and you can find all kinds of goods and items to buy and take home with you as a memory of your stay. If you would rather go to a more traditional shopping mall then head for the Landmark, which houses some well known names you might just recognise.

Flights to Hong Kong are easy to book, and you should also make sure you book a hotel right in the centre of the city, so you have easy access to all the main sights.

But wherever you stay you will be assured of a stunning holiday that will stay with you forever.
