The pleasure of visiting Blackpool
The UK is not only famous for its fish and chips wrapped in a newspaper, nor its English tea, but take a trip to County Lancashire in the North of England and you will find the city of Blackpool. This famous British seaside resort hosts one of the UK’s most popular theme parks, Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
Blackpool is famous for its many attractions, including Blackpool Tower (as inspired by the Eiffel Tower), Blackpool Rock (a very sugary, sticky and nice, but hard — as the name implies — sweet), the Illuminations (lots of decorative lighting), and of course donkey rides on the sea front.
The most popular tourist attraction of the city, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, was founded in 1896 by Alderman William George Bean, where there were very few rides to mention at the time. However, there are now many types of rides to choose from, including family rides and major rides in the form of roller-coasters; the ever popular Carousel, and Ghost Train to name but two. The Pleasure Beach is also host to the tallest and fastest rollercoaster in Europe, the Pepsi Max Big One, and also the world’s biggest indoor dark ride, Valhalla.
However, over time Pleasure Beach has expanded in terms of what the theme park has to offer, with plenty of entertainment now available in the form of musicals, children and family performances, ice shows, comedians, and tribute acts. There are also restaurants and a caf? bar available on site, should all the fun result in a requirement for food delights. Overall, this provides an attractive theme park with a little bit of fun for everyone, particularly for those interested in family trips.
An important note to bear in mind is the opening times of Pleasure Beach; opening full time from the months of March through to the beginning of November, with the occasional weekend openings during the months of February and December. The actual cost of entry to Pleasure Beach is free, with individual tickets able to be purchased on arrival. This may appeal to some individuals as due to height restrictions various rides are not suitable for everyone, which can allow the opportunity to understand where you can get your moneys worth. However, for those organised individuals, unlimited ride wristbands may be purchased online, providing money saving offers.
The popular tourist attractions have resulted in plenty of accommodation in the area to meet the demand of visitors. You can find Blackpool hotels beside the sea or perhaps in a more central location for easy access to what the city has to offer; either way there will be little difficulty in finding accommodation.
With an estimated 6.2 million visitors every year, the popularity of Blackpool Pleasure Beach has proven to be a fun and entertaining outing for all, that’s clearly worth the visit for both children and adults.
