When Does It Pay To Be Female?
So who gets the better deal in life – men or women? If you think the answer might be men, think again. There are certain situations in life where women definitely get the upper hand. For example, have you ever been unlucky enough to break down while you’ve been out and about in your car? If you have, then you will know that as a woman on your own — or if there are only women in the car — you will be treated as a higher priority to receive assistance. This is of course a distinct advantage, no matter where you may have been heading.
Women can also benefit from the chivalrous nature of the opposite sex. Even though it is good to be independent and able to do what you want, it still makes many women feel good when a man behaves in a courteous manner, such as holding the door open.
Another benefit is that women are on the whole much better at multi-tasking, which can come in useful in many different types of situations that crop up in life. Many women also have the upper hand – perhaps not always fairly – in certain job situations. For example, some industries are underrepresented when it comes to employing women and other minorities, which can give many women an edge that the men wouldn’t have.
On an emotional level women also find it much easier to share their problems with others. Men have to maintain that stiff upper lip. It doesn’t apply to all men of course — or all women — but in general this is the case. And we all know that sharing your troubles makes for an easier and more relaxed life.
On a physical level women also have the advantage of being able to do a lot more with their appearance. If their skin doesn’t look its best, there is always the option of using make-up to solve the problem and improve their appearance; an option that men don’t easily have.
Women also live longer in general than men do, which often results in lower life insurance premiums for those who take out a policy. Both of these points stem from the fact that women can be less vulnerable to certain diseases and problems. But women don’t just save money when it comes to life insurance. Women only car insurance proves that it pays to be the gender that drives far more safely as well.
Women are statistically far less likely to be involved in an accident, and that means they receive lower premiums for their insurance each and every year – even when they first start driving. Therefore, while men might get the upper hand in some situations in life, women certainly do get a better deal in many areas too.
