For maintaining records, store your tax return safely on your PC. Also maintain a hard copy.
After e-filing tax return, download the Amendment Form 1040X.
After opening form 1040X, use your keyboard to enter the information.
Refer your tax return (1040, 1040A or 1040EZ) and Form 1040X before entering the info.
Enter the amounts from your original return in Column A
Fill in the adjusted new amounts in Column B
While mailing the form back, include any schedules if necessary.
