The Principles of Successful Weight Loss

It is difficult to loose weight, but still fully possible. The reason for this is the number of lifestyle factors to be controlled in order to succeed. Another reason is the tendency to worsen other lifestyle aspects when you improve one aspect of your lifestyle.

Here are the requirements for a successful slimming process listed as 12 practical commandments easy to remember. The commandments address common practical aspects of your lifestyle that you must get control over to loose weight successfully.

1- Eat 4-5 small or moderately sized meals each day. Do not over-eat at any meal. Eating regularly gives you a stable blood sugar content and that decreases your food craving.

2 – Do not eat between the meals or during the nights.

3 – Eat some lean protein rich food at each meal, like lean fish, lean meat, lean diary products, mushrooms or seafood. Avoid fat meat and fat diary products.

4 – Eat at each meal some food with carbohydrates that are taken up slowly, like full corn bread or cereals, peas or beans. You can also eat some potatoes, but not too much since the carbohydrates in potatoes is taken up somewhat faster.

5 – Eat some fruit or vegetables at each meal. Those shall be raw or gently cooked. Do not spoil the water from the cooking, but use it in your dishes to save all the nutrients from these food sources.

6 – You should eat small amounts of fat fish, nuts, sunflower seeds or almonds. These food types give you nutrients you need. But do not consume much of them since they contain great amounts of fat.

7 – Do not add extra sugar or extra fat into your dishes, except small amounts of natural oils like olive oil, rape oil, sunflower oil or canola oil. This means also to avoid pouring fat loaded or sugar loaded sauces over your food.

8 – Do not drink sweet drinks with added sugar and do not eat cookies, candies chocolate or snacks. Drink instead pure water or some wholly natural juice and eat instead some natural sweet fruit as desert at the end of the meals.

9 – Do not eat ready made food like fast-food or factory-made dishes. Make all your dishes yourself. Then you get full control of the amount of fat and sugar you consume.

10 – consume only a small consume of alcohol. Alcohol contains energy that contributes to weight gain, and excessive alcohol consume makes you loose the control you need for your weight loss project.

11 – Do some exercises that make your muscles work and consume energy at least every second day. Exercises make you burn more fat and sugar and result in a bigger muscle mass that also burn more fat and sugar.

12 – Get a good sleep every night. Lack of sleep makes you more easily gain weight.

It is necessary to follow these commandments every day each week. You can however allow yourself one meal each week where you break the rules.

If you follow the rules strictly, you can easily regulate the speed of your weight loss by adjusting the amount of food you consume at each meal. Do not however skip meals and do not starve yourself. Starving only destroys your health or make you give up your slimming project and then gain more weight than you lost in the first place.

The ability of your body to burn fat depends upon getting all minerals and vitamins you need for your bodily processes every day. A supplement of vitamins, minerals and natural stimulants for your metabolism may help you in your efforts to loose weight.

It may be difficult to follow the rules on your own without some daily support from other people, like your family. The ideal thing is having a family or living partner that supports your efforts. Tell your nearest people about your plan and ask for their support.

The habits leading to unwanted weight gain is often also habits of the whole family and ideally the whole family should change their daily habits in a more healthy way.

A good support also implies that the person in the family that is responsible for the cooking, also change the meals he or she makes for you.

Sadly many people fail in their efforts to loose weight because the family is not willing to cooperate and because the person making the food gets offended when you tell you will change your diet in the way necessary for a successful slimming process.

If that happens you must be strong and take up the fight on your own which implies that you must make your own food. It is your health and in the last instance your life that are at stake. Do not let misunderstanding people sabotage your life.
